The Grand’s Sensory-Friendly Family Shows welcome children and adults of all ages and abilities to enjoy the experience of live entertainment together.
These performances are supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts.
The following accommodations are intended to help reduce stress and anxiety for our audience:
FLEXIBLE HOUSE RULES – Audience members are greeted by a relaxed attitude toward noise and moving about during the show. Limited crowd sizes and an open seating arrangement allow patrons to find a place in the theater where they are most comfortable.
Wheelchair seating is available. Please notify the box office at time of purchase.
Tablets, smart phones, and other electronic devices may be used with headphones during the performance. Fidget toys are welcome, and noise-cancelling headphones will be available.
Doors to the theater open one hour before show time.
If cancellation is necessary, a refund will be provided up to 48 hours following the performance. Unused tickets must be presented to the box office. Please call 302-652-5577 for more details.
MODEST PRODUCTION VALUES – Lighting remains on at a low level during the performance. Sound is kept at comfortable levels with no sudden, loud noises.
ASL INTERPRETERS will be provided by SIGNINterpreting Services - working to bridge communication barriers between the deaf/hard of hearing and hearing communities.
QUIET SPACE is available for patrons who may need a break from the performance. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
PRIMING ACTIVITIES – A downloadable Social Story will help patrons prepare for their visit to the theater. Personal tours may be available upon request prior to the day of the show. Please call 302-658-7897 ext. 3300 for more information.
TRAINED STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS – The Grand’s Show Corps is trained to accommodate families’ needs.
GENDER-NEUTRAL AND FAMILY RESTROOMS are always available.
Individual contributions are always welcome and may be designated to support this program! Please click on our DONATE NOW button to make your gift today, and indicate “Sensory-Friendly” in the Notes section.
